The Kestner Gesellschaft was founded in 1916 to promote artistic life in Hanover and today is one of the largest art associations (German: Kunstvereine) in Germany. For over 100 years its aim has been to bring contemporary, international art to Hanover and with over 700 ground-breaking exhibitions to date, it has helped shape the art scene in both Germany and internationally.
Despite an eventful history spanning more than 100 years, its focus has remained the same: to always show relevant, international art of its time, from Paul Klee to Guerrilla Girls.
