Kaarnamaa; A Journal of Art History and Criticism

Iran, Tehran

The name behind Kaarnamaa; A Journal of Art History and Criticism comes from the definition of “Kaarnamaa” as “exhibition.” Together with its sister magazine, Accent Wall, the journals form a multimedia platform that addresses the transnational nature of art today. By accentuating what matters in today’s sprawling world of art, Kaarnamaa subscribes to the belief that criticism is important. The publication also provides the kind of information and analyses that can expand to contribute to the alternative narratives on modern art. In 2018, Kaarnamaa launched “Goftaar,” its Oral History Project, as part one of the institute’s Archives of Iranian Art.
