Susan Bayani is an award winning Iranian Canadian Film director, writer, producer, and lecturer based in Toronto. She holds an MFA in Film Production from York University and a BA in Italian Literature from Tehran University. She is also a graduate of film directing from Luchino Visconti film school in Milan, Italy. Bayani’s course of life and study has made her an international filmmaker with a transnational view toward human subject matters of various cultures in different languages. Political issues, violence and issues concerning women are the main concerns in her art. In her works she pursues characters who are politically and socially conscious; people who despite their life being at stake take principled stands and put up a great fight.
