Simin Keramati (born 1970) is a multidisciplinary artist working in photography, film, mixed media, and painting. Keramati’s work references elements from the news and social media as well as her personal life and own body. She addresses themes of identity, diasporic experience, women’s rights, and gender equality. She has resisted the frames within which curators and gallerists typically place her art. Keramati studied Fine Arts at University of Arts, Tehran and was an active member of the art scene in Tehran before emigrating to Canada in 2012. Her works are exhibited worldwide.
