Saba Zavarei is an artist, researcher, and writer. Stretched between Tehran to London she works across disciplines and different media exploring the ways in which bodies and performative interventions contribute to the social production of space and the urban condition. She has extensively worked on creation of alternative spaces of everyday life through transgressive performances in Iran, and is currently working on the materializations of exiled bodies in urban spaces. Her doctoral dissertation Bodies Out of Place: Performance, Space, and Gender in Contemporary Iran (Goldsmiths, University of London 2022) is to be published by Cambridge University Press in 2024. She’s the co-founder of the journal Konesh and has produced the podcast Radio Khiaban on gender and space in Iran.
