Martin Shamoonpour, born in Tehran in 1984, is a self-taught multi-instrumentalist, composer, actor and visual artist. He began his acting career in his twenties in Tehran’s vibrant theater scene, appearing in numerous productions. To date, Shamoonpour has composed and performed music for nearly thirty theater productions at the City Theater of Tehran. He has also written, directed, and performed his own one-man show, Qatinu the Hero, at many of Iran’s most prominent arts venues. Since 2015, he has been living and working in the United States, where he regularly tours with Journey West, an eight-member ensemble that performs traditional Eastern music at theaters and universities across the country.
