Madarat Gallery

Iraq, Baghdad

Madarat Gallery was founded by the artist Hasan Nassar in 2006. First located in Al Wazeriya beside the College of Fine Arts, the founder’s intention was to show the variety of Iraqi art and to offer Iraqi artists of all genres a place to exhibit, perform or gather.
In 2014, Madarat Gallery moved to its current location in Haifa Street. The gallery consists of different spaces such as a showroom, a room for discussion and a studio where young artists can work for free. Madarat is a cultural space with exhibitions, music events, seminars, and workshops. The Gallery was inactive for a couple of years reopening in November 2022 with the exhibition “Opium 88 – Hovering over Infinity”, the first solo-exhibition by the young artist Mustafa Ghanam.
