Hans-Michael Koetzle is working as a freelance art critic, writer, editor and Hans-Michael Koetzle is a freelance art critic, writer, editor and exhibition curator, and was the editor of Leica World magazine from 1996 to 2007. As an art critic and writer he contributes to magazines such as Photo International and European Photography and has published renowned books including Photo Icons and Das Lexikon der Fotografen (Encyclopedia of Photographers).
Koetzle has curated photography exhibitions in Germany and internationally, including the retrospective of Magnum Photographer René Burri, shown in Europe and Latin America. Together with Art Director and publisher Horst Moser he established a Moser Verlag publishing house in Munich, which specializes in high quality photo books. The first books (including famous photographers as well as new talents) was published in 2009, and was introduced during the Arles Photo Festival in France the same year.
