As an art critic and writer he contributes to magazines such as Photo International and European Photography and has published renowned books including Photo Icons and Das Lexikon der Fotografen (Encyclopedia of Photographers).
Koetzle has curated photography exhibitions in Germany and internationally, including the retrospective of Magnum Photographer René Burri, shown in Europe and Latin America.
