Founded in 1901 in the heart of London’s East End, Whitechapel Gallery occupies a historic building with nine exhibition spaces, an auditorium, study and studio areas, a bookshop, and a café. Over the years, the Gallery has showcased influential artists from around the world, including China, Brazil, and the Islamic world, while also supporting local artists and communities shaped by waves of migration. With a mission to make contemporary art accessible, its learning and outreach programs highlight the transformative power of art in sparking imagination and new perspectives.
