The Prince Claus Fund, founded in 1996 in the Netherlands, supports culture and development in regions facing conflict, poverty, or repression. Named after Prince Claus, it provides funding, connections, and recognition to artists and cultural organizations mainly in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Caribbean. The Fund annually awards the Prince Claus Awards, honoring outstanding cultural achievements. It also offers emergency aid for threatened cultural heritage. Supported by the Dutch government and donors, the Fund has backed thousands of projects worldwide from its Amsterdam headquarters.
