The Cultural Protection Fund, launched in 2016 by the British Council in partnership with the UK Government, supports efforts to protect cultural heritage at risk from conflict, climate change, or disaster. With over £35 million invested across more than 110 projects in the Middle East, North and East Africa, it funds work like restoring historic buildings, preserving archives, training artisans, and safeguarding intangible traditions. By connecting UK and local partners, the Fund helps communities reclaim cultural identity, create jobs, and build resilience through heritage.
