tate Modern's MENA Acquisitions Committee

United Kingdom, Liverpool

Tate, the UK’s national institution for British and international modern and contemporary art, has been collecting art since its founding in 1897. Its acquisitions policy is designed to expand and diversify the collection in response to global artistic developments. Overseen by the Board of Trustees, acquisitions are proposed by curators and reviewed by the Collection Group, with funding support from international donor committees. Works under £100,000 are approved internally, while larger purchases require committee or trustee approval. Recent initiatives include funds for Sámi and Inuit art and cross-institutional acquisitions like Archie Moore’s kith and kin.
