Roya Khoshnevis is a cultural analyst specializing in Petroculture Studies, particularly in Iran and the Persian Gulf. She holds two MAs, in Postcolonial Literature from the University of Malaya and in Middle Eastern Studies from Leiden University. In 2021, she completed her Ph.D. at the University of Amsterdam’s School of Cultural Analysis (ASCA). Over the past 15 years, she has lived and worked across Southeast Asia, Europe, and the USA. She currently works as a freelance energy humanities journalist in Tehran and serves as a resident scholar at the Center of Middle Eastern Strategic Studies, where she focuses on the Petroculture dimensions of Tehran, examining it as an “Invisible Oil City.”
