Morteza Soorani, born in 1988 in Ahvaz, Iran, is a visual artist working with photography, video and installation. Now based in Rotterdam, he draws inspiration from observation and empiricism to offer a unique perspective on the relationship between humans and water. Using various mediums – including video, text, photography, and installation – he explores the role of water in contemporary life. Since 2017, his work has focused on the pollution and drying up of the Karun River, Iran’s longest freshwater river, depicting the impact of this crisis on families, ecosystems, and individuals.
