Matthias Ziemer is a photographer living and working in Munich, Germany. In 2015 he studied photo design at the Munich University of Applied Sciences. During his studies, his primary focus was on portrait, product, architecture, and documentary photography.
He currently works as a freelance photographer and light assistant. His current practice focuses on portraits, documentaries, events, and architecture. He is especially interested in projects about sustainability and equality.

Winner of the German Photobook Award 21/22, Matthias Ziemer’s “1,5°C” is a photographic report on the consequences of the climate emergency. In his 2-month long documentation of Mongolia, a country seldomly in the spotlight, but already suffering from the consequences of unchecked global greenhouse gas emissions to an extent like few other countries, Ziemer aims to create a better understanding of climate justice and the consequences of climate change.
