Maison de la Photographie de Marrakech was founded by Hamid Mergani and Patrick Manac’h in 2009. It’s primary mission is to showcase the extraordinary diversity of Morocco through the eyes of photographers, both anonymous and renowned, from the early days of photography up until the modern era (1879-1960). It serves as a comprehensive archive of Morocco, encapsulating its rich history and cultural ideas. The collection includes photographs, glass plates, postcards, newspapers, maps, and documentaries.
The museum not only hosts thematic exhibitions at its location in the medina of Marrakech but also organizes traveling exhibitions in schools and collaborates with various cultural institutions to broaden its reach and impact.
