Iraq, Sulaymaniyah

The Kurdish Heritage Institute (KHI), founded in 2003 in Sulaymaniyah, is dedicated to preserving Kurdish oral traditions, music, and folklore. It collects, archives, and digitizes material from across Kurdistan, including works from minority communities. KHI holds over 15,000 books and extensive audio-visual archives. It also runs concert halls, studios, and a publishing arm. With offices in Sulaymaniyah and Duhok, and representatives in Kirkuk, Syria, Turkey, and Iran, KHI plays a vital role in safeguarding and promoting Kurdish cultural heritage.
