Bita Fayyazi (b. 1962) is a pioneer of "new art" (honar-e jadid) in Iran, known since the 1990s for her large-scale installations and performances in public spaces. Rooted in collaboration and community engagement, her work refers to social sculpture. She has exhibited widely in Iran and internationally, including the 6th Biennial of Contemporary Ceramic Art (Tehran), Experiment 98: The Art of Demolition (Tehran), Nikolaj Kunsthal (Copenhagen), Barbican Centre (London), 51st Venice Biennale and 9th Ceramic Biennale (South Korea). Her work is included in renowned collections and she has published Four Years Four Projects (2017) and Iranomutomorphosis.net: Contemporary Artists from Iran (Fabrica Publications, 2014).
