Bita Fayyazi (born 1962) is a pioneer of “New Art” (honar-e jadid) in Iran and has been a talking point for her installations and performances in public space since the 1990s. Her approach is rooted in collaborative and community work and can be related to social sculpture. Fayyazi’s works and projects are widely shown in Iran and internationally, among other 6th Biennale of Contemporary Ceramic Art, Tehran; Experiment 98: The Art of Demolition in an abandoned house in Tehran; Nikolaj Kunsthal, Copenhagen; Barbican Centre, London; 51st International Venice Biennial; and 9th Ceramic Biennale, South Korea. Her works are included in many internationally renowned collections. She published Four Years Four Projects (2017), and Iran: iranomutomorphosis.net (Fabrica Publications, 2014).
