Behnam Sadighi’s work is founded in documentary photography and focusses on the relation between “reality” and “self”. He develops his ideas through looking at his surroundings, the socio-political and cultural phenomena he experiences, and the effects they have on people’s relationships and life. At the same time, his images seem to document ordinary, even accidental situations. Sadighi, born 1979 in Sari, Iran, lives and works in Tehran. Beside numerous exhibitions in Iran, his work was shown at Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art (SMoCA), D.C. (2020), Indian International Center, New Delhi (2019), Redcat Gallery, LA (2018), Hillyer Art Space, DC (2017), Arles Photo Festival (2017), The Mine Gallery in Dubai (2016), and Showroom Gallery in London (2014), among others. He published The Reminder with Motto Books, London, in 2014, and Ekbatan, West of Tehran with Mahriz Publication, Tehran, in 2010.
