Amos Rex offers unique and surprising experiences through the presentation of new, often experimental, contemporary art. It showcases both established and emerging artists, providing a space for thought-provoking art and independent thinking. Amos Rex aims to present an international, multicultural world. The museum is partly housed in a functionalist building called Lasipalatsi (‘Glass Palace’ in English), a landmark of Finnish modernism in the 1930s. The underground exhibition spaces in the extension were designed by JKMM Architects, and the museum opened in 2018. The roof of the gallery bubbles up through the ground, creating a playful outdoor landscape that is now a Helsinki landmark.
