Ali Golestaneh is an art critic, art history lecturer, and artist based in Tehran. He holds an M.A. in Art Research from University of Art, Tehran. His theoretical approach is mainly Marxist theory and social history of art. He was a member of the editorial board of Tandis Biweekly (from 2013 to 2019) and writes and translates for Tajrish Circle’s website. Golestaneh has translated T.J. Clarck’s Painting of Postmodern Life (with Shokofeh Ghafari, 2018) and Andrew Hemingway’s Marxism and the History of Art (with Shervin Taheri, 2022). Golestaneh is also a painter and has been exhibiting his work in various venues since 2003.
